Wisconsin Idea Leadership Academy
Description
Education Leadership and Policy Analysis faculty members Jim Shaw, Colleen Capper, and Allan Odden and Bruce King develop, coordinate and facilitate the annual Wisconsin Idea Leadership Academy conference in Madison. The Academy highlights schools and districts from across the nation that have dramatically increased student achievement and equity. ELPA professors discuss research they have conducted with these and other schools and districts that have boosted student performance, identifying cross-cutting themes that emerge from the different presentations.
Outcomes
Each year, about 100 school and district leaders from across the Midwest participate. Conference participants engage in networking, critical dialogue, problem solving and planning around issues of enhancing student learning and equitable outcomes for different student groups. Evaluations indicated the last conference was a very successful experience.
