Leadership Development - Manitowoc Schools
Description
The project focuses on leadership development for both school and district administrators and teachers. The Manitowac Public School District has adopted the framework for Authentic Intellectual Work (AIW, developed by Newmann and Associates at WCER) for district -wide implementation. Staff provide professional development to build leadership capacity to improve instruction and assessment practices consistent with the AIW framework.
Outcomes
School and district leaders strengthened understanding of authentic pedagogy, a critical element in the boosting of student achievement. Sustained professional development has contributed to school-wide implementation across all subject areas at Washington Junior High School. District-wide assessments in writing and math are consistent with the framework for Authentic Intellectual Work.
