Data Driven Instructional Systems
Description
Nine schools in four Wisconsin counties participate in UW-Madison's Data Driven Instructional Systems (DDIS) project. This project of the Wisconsin Center for Education Research describes how public school leaders and teachers develop the capacity to use achievement data to improve student learning. The program's work documents the practices of nine Wisconsin schools with reputations for effective data use and demonstrated records of improving student learning.
Outcomes
The DDIS team is making visible the innovative practices of expert school leaders, which will then be used to reframe leadership preparation programs and improve learning experiences in other state schools. Researchers have learned that leaders and teachers are blazing trails for how schools can address the academic and social needs of students while meeting the challenge of high-stakes accountability policies.
