Molecular Biometry Cluster and BACTER Institute

UW-Madison Assistant Professor Julie Mitchell was trained as a pure mathematician and presently does applied work in computational biology. Mitchell collaborates with experimental biologists on practical problems of interest. A notable such collaboration with Ron Raines led to a new cancer drug that is has been patented by WARF. In addition, she has active collaborations with many other campus labs. These collaborations include creating protein docking models and making hot spot predictions for interactions of relevance to human disease.

Outcomes

Professor Mitchell's research has let to patentable new molecules for treatment of disease and commercially developable software for molecular modeling.
